About Us

PyroCCS is a Germany-based ClimateTech Startup that was established in March 2022 after successfully participating in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal Milestone Competition.
The objective was and still is to enable the fastest to scale and the cheapest carbon dioxide removal via biochar.
We started our journey as a project developer in Namibia and India and spent significant resources in understanding the pyrolysis technologies. However, none of these technologies was really suitable for a widespread, efficient and successful deployment in the Global South.
While procuring various high-tech pyrolysis plants from well known manufacturers we soon realised a few things. Most of the plants were not reliable and they showed very early signs of extreme wear and tear. Repairs were impossible and would require engineers to be flown across the world. To that extremely long lead times of up to 18 months and comparatively high costs (for the Global South) were another deterrent.

We incorporated those and more learnings to build our own pyrolysis technologies over the last years. After receiving a large range of inquiries from carbon standards and other project developers, we have now opened up our technologies to third parties who can procure them in combination with our Sarva Carbon dMRV+ system and all necessary carbon standard certifications from us. We are now certified C-Sink Managers and C-Sink Brokers and our software Sarva Carbon is endorsed by the carbon standards.

We strongly believe to not only capture value in the Global South but also keep the wealth in the country and built locally focused value chains. We have recently entered the markets in Indonesia and Malaysia via our subsidiary in Singapore and will continue to create opportunities and empower the Global South.
