PyroHem

a joint venture between Mailhem Environment and PyroCCS’ Indian subsidiary PyroCCS India.
‘Hem’ is the Sanskrit word for ‘Gold’. Combining its strengths the PyroHem Joint Venture is creating “Biochar-Gold” out of waste biomass in India.
I – WHY INDIA?
Massive biomass potential
- 5 Mt woody municipal solid waste p.a.
- 140 Mt forest waste p.a.
- 500 Mt agricultural residue p.a.
India’s critical role in the global efforts to mitigate climate change.
- Surpassing China as world's most populous country in 2023
- Per capita CO2 emissions of only 1,9t compared to the global average of 4,8t
- Large proportion of waste biomass is being burned or is rotting emitting harmful greenhouse gasses
- 7th most affected country by climate change in the past two decades

Preferential access to a large range of suitable biomasses
1.
Waste Wood like branches and twigs
2.
Coconut & other nut shells
3.
Sugarcane bagasse
4.
Rice husk & rice straw
5.
Coffee husks
6.
Bamboo
III – PROBLEMS TO ADDRESS

Solution
PyroHem sequesters CO2 from waste biomass and stores it in biochar

IV – MADE IN INDIA
Our pyrolysis equipment is exclusively manufactured in India honoring the “Atmanirbhar Bharat - Self-reliant India” thought by the Government of India.

- Technology transfer from Germany
- 90% of the value-chain remains in India
- Promotion of local businesses through local sourcing
- Investment in building local research & development capabilities
- Broad spectrum job creation alongside the manufacturing activities

IV - GOALS

500 plants projected in 8 years

500,000t biochar produced per year

> 1,250,000t CO2 net removed per year

> 8,500 jobs created
